anyway - I'll incorporate the Input Filter Note FX suggestion and try to be optimistic. Just would be nice for the Devs to be a little more open and communicative about working with users to get the SQ better / tops. There shouldn't be any 'NDA' secrets at this point. Corporations get so paranoid and many times don't want any 'outside' help / suggestions. At this point, IMO if they could have fixed the issue, they would have. I mean, this controller has been out for roughly 8 months now. I received mine like a few days after they came on the market, and reported this double-triggering issue immediately. And I worked extensively with several people to help them understand the issue.

Just posting this because I can see evidence I'm not the only user frustrated by this design flaw. It's a shame because the overall layout and functionality and workflow of the SQ is great, but those oblong pads with their uneven triggering behavior because you wanted to keep this thing at a low price point is really really really REALLY disappointing. I do think they did a great job in many aspects, but need to clean this thing up so it's reliable and usable. I want basic DAW control and am betting on Moss's script to provide this for these devices. I like the feel of the pads on the Maschine Mikro and overall it seems like a very solid device and good value. I like the number of pads on the Launchpad and I also like that I can create custom controllers with the 64 pad grid. And the pads feel pretty great too. Maybe not quite as good as the Mikro. And the Atom seems like a solid device and value though I think the Launchpad pads feel a little better overall. The Launchkey X or the Maschine Mikro Mk3 and the Presonus Atom. (I might be inclined to include the Presonus Atom SQ but it's not yet supported by Bitwig natively or Moss.) User Mode in Ableton Live is much less extensive. Here User Mode functions as a bank switcher allowing you to use Live’s MIDI Map mode to create 6 banks of knob assignments. In essence, you can use User Mode to have 48 different endless encoders at your disposal. Who is the PreSonus Atom SQ for?The very first thing that you are going to notice with this device is its layout. It has a litany of pads, buttons, and knobs. In fact, there are 32 velocity and pressure-sensitive pads, 16 buttons that can be assigned to different functions, and 8 rotary knobs that can be endlessly rotated. While this might seem a bit overwhelming at first, each of these components has been very carefully crafted to make them as useful as possible. And yes, the overall form factor and functionality of the ATOM SQ is really really good and inutitive and USEFUL. I really love the location and size and responsiveness of the touch strip. The endless encoder knobs feel solid and smooth, and are so easy to set up with Control Link to instantly dial in the Macro knobs from all your synth instruments (or any useful parameter on the synth). The command functions and the display are excellent. It's easy to navigate to useful functions. The colorized pads are really great for use with Impact XT drum kits. Enjoy full expression with switchable polyphonic aftertouch, channel pressure, or MIDI CC message modes Moreover the pads themselves are not equally easy or hard to trigger, some of them trigger more easily and others seem to be much stubborn. Can you also confirm this ? Baphometrix wroteEven after the 1.15 firmware update, I'm convinced that the design of the ATOM SQ pad triggering is flawed at a fundamental level. No matter which Velocity sensitivity I choose, it's still VERY easy to get double-trigger Note On/Off events if you hit anywhere near the CENTER of any pad. This is especially easy to reproduce today with firmware 1.15 in exactly the same way as I demonstrated over and over to Presonus in the early launch days of the SQ.

So basically this controller (ATOM SQ) has some fixed values that can be registered and not anything else in-between of those.Ableton Live integration makes producing, playing virtual instruments, and triggering samples and loops expressive, flexible, and fun

Pads – For anyone that has used a keyboard MIDI controller before, these pads are going to have a familiar feel to them. They are set up in such a way as to mimic a standard keyboard, making them very easy to jump in and start using right off the bat. That is not to say, however, that these pads are just carbon copies of a standard keyboard. They are actually much more versatile than that, as they can be used for a variety of different instruments. These pads will also change color according to the mode you are in, as well as the different melodic scales that you are using. This all works pretty seamlessly with the included Studio One bundle or Ableton Live. These pads are also pressured sensitive, which allows you to change the pitch so that you achieve exactly what you are looking for in your music. the firmware should have a 'double hit avoidance' option that tries to sense 'likely double hits' and ignores the subsequent second note. users could choose if they want this 'filter' on or off.

The current velocity settings are useless for melodies because with normal playing (not to break fingers on the pads) it registers : Octaves on the SQ can only go down to C0 and not below. Aside from actually playing lower notes, lower octaves are often used for key switches on virtual instruments, which makes those inaccessible on the ATOM SQ.
