The second one is a nymph from some hoary old 1960s pulp fantasy about sex slaves - she is written such that she needs to submit herself to an owner to such an extent that not only do her personality and tastes change to conform to her owner's, so does her appearance. Two of our main characters were created by the libriomancers magic, that is to say they started off as characters in books and then were pulled into the real world. but I can assure you that anyone, even someone who hasn't found "that" book to infuse their love of reading, can pick this up and enjoy it. In the early Harry Dresden books, there is a real sense of strangeness when Harry mixes his whacky potions. I picked this book up in a book sale because it looked interesting although I had not previously heard of the author.But now, imagine that said magic was literal, and that you could actually reach into a book and pluck out an object if your imagination was strong enough.

I felt like Libriomancer was DRESDEN FILES Lite, but I still kept the light on past midnight to finish it. Hines throws characters and dilemmas at us fast and furious in the first fifty pages and it was a little too much. Only now he's gone missing, is apparently mind-raping Vampires and is using them to torture Porters and Vampires to death.

Because the book world is nearly infinite, the magic can still be a bit problematic, but I think Hines pretty much does his duty with the premise, allowing the reader to accept and move on.
