About this deal

Another improvement is the focus point sensitivity, which now goes to an impressive -7EV, compared to the X-T30’s -3EV. Besides that, the amount of sharpening that’s being applied at each setting is slightly more heavy-handed on X-Trans IV than on X-Trans III. Alternatively get yourself a copy of my In Camera book, an official Cameralabs T-shirt or mug, or treat me to a coffee!

One of the disadvantages of a smaller than full-frame sensor is that low-light shooting can result in noisier images.APS-C sized-sensor, this is a slight improvement on its predecessor, the X-T20, but is one of the highest resolutions of any digital camera with an APS-C sensor. I have shot it in the danish snowy wintertime, shot it chasing my kids, shot it on the streets, shot it for landscapes, and I’m at the time of writing shooting with it on my vacation in Florida and the Caribbean. If you have a little more cash to play with – and don’t mind going a little bigger – it makes sense to plump for the X-S10, but otherwise, there’s a lot to like here. Its pretty amazing that you get such excellent compositions and nail your shots so perfectly using in camera controls only. Stretch it even further and you’re in X-T4 territory, which additionally gives you 4K at 60p, full weather sealing, and an extra card slot.

Amy is currently the Features Editor at Amateur Photographer magazine, and in her increasingly little spare time works across a number of high-profile publications including Wired, Stuff, Digital Camera World, Expert Reviews, and just a little off-tangent, PetsRadar. Use LEICA's brilliant original 14312 strap, which attaches and works much better than the crazy system Fujifilm includes.

But for a lot of you, video matters – so I’m just going to mention what specs have seen some changed in this department. It didn't perform well for capturing stars as it doesn't collect enough light without bumping up the ISO to an almost unusable level, but in its defense, we were testing it in a Bortle Class 5 (suburban) area so they were already less than favorable conditions for astrophotography. The time it took me to post-process the trip, from reviewing to editing to transferring to storing the images, was less than three hours total. The only way to see it is only on the rear LCD, only when the camera is ready to shoot (not on playback and not in menus), and only in the one data screen that comes up as you press DISP BACK to change the screen functions.

maximum file size; keeps making sequential files once a file hits 4GB for you to stitch together later. There’s just one memory card slot, which is to be expected on a mid-range camera like the Fujifilm X-T30 II. Our least favorite thing about this camera is the battery life which is CIPA rated at 380 shots, about average.
