About this deal

But the more Alix comes to know Josie and her past, the more she worries she's made a terrible mistake. Though Alix believes it will be a run-of-the-mill episode on the differences between two lives that started at the same time and same place (they were even born at the same hospital), the story takes a dark turn when Josie starts sharing disturbing family secrets. Whilst celebrating her 45th birthday at the local pub with family and friends, Alix is approached by a woman in the restroom who introduces herself as Josie Fair and tells her that they’re ‘birthday twins’ as it’s her 45th birthday too.

Instead of feeling threatened, Alix decides to feature Josie on a podcast about the lives of ordinary women. But it was, at the same time, the best fun ever and Jessica Jones now feels like a part of me forever, definitely one of my favorite characters I’ve written to date.Gloriously dark, so clever and completely addictive - this is Lisa Jewell at the very top of her game.

While reading the book, I felt like the emoji that has both hands over their eyes but with their fingers spread so that the upcoming train wreck is slightly visible. Will Josie's desperation to escape her situation lead her to say just about ANYTHING to get out, once and for all? As the words leave her mouth, Josie feels the gnawing sense of grief that she has experienced for most of her life rush through her. She wears wide-legged trousers and a top made of two pieces of black cloth held together with laces at the sides.Josie ponders her life and choices throughout the novel, at one point wondering how she might leave her family and live elsewhere. It gives away some interesting snippets about the parts of the story you have just read and puts them in wider context, such as Alix discussing her thoughts about Josie’s revelations. My recommendation is to just go into the reading of this book with an open mind and without any preconceived notions as to what you think is going on, because that will probably change many times throughout. It took me awhile to sort out my thoughts on this one, as it was not quite what I expected, but that isn’t a bad thing. This quest leads her to Alix Summer, a renowned podcaster, where she sees an opportunity to share her intriguing life story and embark on a journey of reinvention.

The state of her two daughters, Roxy and Erin, are kept top secret for a long time just to emphasise this. The reason I am not giving None of This Is True five stars, which I thought I would for 95% of the book, is that I feel conflicted about the ending. This book is no different, and the multiple povs really give us insight into the various narrators inner thoughts and feelings while the tension ramps up around them.

which investigates Josie’s life as she reconciles what happened to her as a teen and seeks a new path. Josie’s hand finds the chain she’s worn around her neck since she was thirty; her birthday gift that year from Walter. I have NEVER been more relieved to pick up my sunglasses and bask in the warm comforting glow of the summer sun! Lisa Jewell has been around the scene for a while now: this is her ELEVENTH thriller after making the transition from romance novels. As the birthday celebrations get underway, a chance encounter between Josie and Alix reveals they not only share the same birth date, but they were also born in the same hospital, on the same day, and went to the same school.Q: Were there any plot and character revelations you were especially excited to finally give the reader? Whether I agreed with the way it played out or not, despite occasional uneven pacing, I'm a Jewell fan through and through and also feel like I have a good sense of what to expect when I grab one of her books. But then it's revealed, amidst a sea of lies, that one story was TRUE: a character involved in grooming a young woman really DID groom said teenager. I felt it was too ambiguous, and was confused what kind of conclusion the reader was supposed to make.
