This speaker doesn’t have any smart features, so it isn’t the best choice if you want a good sounding speaker that can also be used to control your lightbulbs, but it covers all the other bases very well. If you want an ultra portable totally wireless speaker, this one gets my highest recommendation. Battery life is rated 8 hours, which is pretty much the standard these days for small Bluetooth speakers, and I had no problem getting through the day at moderate volume levels. Using it at the office and at home I did a little better than the typical 10 meters/33 feet for the wireless range and managed to hold a steady connection once I paired my iPhone 6S with the speaker (I also tested it with a Samsung Galaxy S6). In fact, a major flaw of the Klipsch Heritage Groove is that there is no way of telling (on the device or on your phone) how much battery there is left. Granted, it will start bleeping warning signals when it gets close – but, with these interrupting your music at 10-second intervals, it may as well be out of juice at this point. You can pair two BRV-Mini speakers to create a stereo pair, which in my experience has worked really well. When placed several feet apart, and angled toward you, the stereo soundscape has a surprising amount of depth.

The Heritage Groove speaker is a wireless portable speaker with an impressively long battery life. But unfortunately it's not indefinite! If your Heritage Groove speaker starts interrupting your music every few seconds with an audible 3-tone beeping noise, it simply means you have hit the 10% battery-life mark. The tone serves as a warning to recharge, so you don't take it out only to have it die on you! Plug it in until the red LED on the unit goes out and you're good to go. Alternatively, when connected to a mobile device, you should be able to view the battery level from the Bluetooth pairing screen.
