I thought she was an interesting character and I wanted to know more about her, although she didn't seem to say much. In Book 2, St Vincent kidnapped Lilian with the intention of marrying her against her will to secure her inheritance and I was wondering how he was going to redeem himself in his own book. She agrees to only one night of passion to make their marriage legal and binding, but no more than that.

She goes through so much growth in this book, and really comes into her own and finds so much self worth and confidence. It quickly becomes clear, however, that Evie is a woman of hidden strength – and Sebastian desires her more than any woman he’s ever known. I live in the snowy Rocky Mountains, have an unhealthy obsession with soft blankets, and am happiest with a crochet hook in my hand while listening to an audibook. I love that she is the one to make the marriage proposition to Sebastian, knowing that it would only be a marriage of convenience. Devil in Winter introduced handsome, half-gypsy Cam Rohan who becomes the hero of the first book in the spin-off, Hathaways series, Mine 'Til Midnight. This one is one of those books that I knew I was going to love as soon as I finished the first page. They marry to save her from her abusive family and him from his debts, but her innocent sweetness melts his hardened heart. E gave it all to you, the damned bastard – ’e only wanted an ugly little tangle-tongue, when I was ’is son. Likely because my review did not start forming in my head until I had dealt with my swooning and fainting spells from this perfect book. Knowing this, her greedy relations have been keeping her prisoner, starving and beating her, and refusing to let her visit him.

Sebastian's impulsiveness even cost him a life-long friendship with Marcus, Lord Westcliff, and all of this made it seem like he cared more for money than people.

Although Lisa Kleypas is a new to me Author, the fantastic reviews I've read from friends here on her works gave me comfort in regards to what to expect. The aunts and uncles are trying to force her to marry one of her cousins so that they can get thier hands on her inheritance. your romantic history, to put it politely, is like that of a dog who goes to every back door on the street, collecting scraps at every threshold.

In my opinion, this story was a deeper, slightly darker installment as we watch Evie escape the clutches of her horrid aunt and uncle, and take the necessary steps to remain free of them. I mean, the entire plot of this book is that Evie’s choice was to marry her horrible cousin and probably be murdered by her family, or marry a complete stranger who objectively would make an awful husband (and also kidnapped and threatened to rape her friend…).If there was any shortcoming with this book, I wish it had more love scenes (the passion is fiery between Evie and St. A lot of romances have sex scenes which are pretty much unnecessary to the plot - in this book, they are done so well, and are entirely pertinent to the developing relationship; good heavens, the 'virtual' pages were steaming! Evie, on the other hand, gave herself the place she deserved to be, either being Sebastian’s wife in every sense of the word or not.
