Description

To me, this lens feels natural and effortless. Because its FOV is so close to that of the human eye, whenever I visualize a shot, I can simply move to where I think I need to be, pull the camera up to my eye, and snap the photo without having to do any additional maneuvering. The end product is almost always exactly what I had envisioned, which is a special quality in itself. The ability to capture a pre-visualized slice of life without much effort makes this lens the favorite in my collection. For this reason, I call the 27mm my “slice of life” lens. With that said, the 27mm excels in everyday genres of photography that focus on documenting people, places, things, and the fleeting moments of life—genres like documentary, street, travel, lifestyle, and even landscape photography. When sunlight hits this lens just right, you’ll get a bit of a white edge to the image, almost as if you applied a white gradient to the image in Photoshop. This flare offers plenty of chances for adding character if you can get the light to hit just right. Color Rendering

Get this lens to add-on to a Fuji X-mount camera, but if your plan is to get a tiny walk-around lens, get an X100T instead of this lens. With that said, if you had considered the XF 27mm before the update Fujifilm has now made it even better by adding the aperture ring and making the lens weather-resistant. The Fuji 27/2.8 has no visible distortion shot as JPG, where the camera may be correcting any that's there — or not. The viewfinder is par for the course for this class of cameras, though not outstanding. The bigger issue is that, even though you'll want to press the Drive/Delete button with your left thumb, you'll almost certainly trigger the eye sensor to switch from the rear screen to using the EVF. It's a pain. And while the camera doesn't automatically switch to the EVF when you trigger the sensor with the screen tilted out, it does rotate the screen 180 degrees; the info display is flipped to seemingly prepare you for taking a selfie. The f/2.8 maximum aperture is pretty modest, given that most primes these days are f/2, f/1.4 or even faster, but that’s the price of compactness. There will be lots of times when this lens’s small size proves much more useful than a faster optic. At 84g it’s also way lighter than most prime lenses.

If this 1,200×900 pixel crop is about 12" (30cm) wide on your screen, then the complete image printed at this same extreme magnification would be about 42 × 62" (3.5 × 5.2 feet or 1.05 × 1.6 meters). habitat! This lens gives you that, beautifully. Photo taken with Fujifilm XF 27mm f2.8 Fits everything in – naturally The Fujifilm XF 27mm F2.8 R WR is not a macro lens, with the close-focus point at 34cm from the sensor plane and a maximum magnification of 0.1x. Bokeh It works surprisingly well on my Fuji X-T30; all data communication and autofocus work as well as a real Fujinon lens. This lens has no Optical Image Stabilization (OIS, IS or VR (Vibration Reduction)), but it works great with cameras that have internal stabilization. This lens comes with a curious little ‘inverted’ lens hood which actually angles inwards not outwards. It does the job, though, without spoiling the slim profile of the lens and even offers some of the protection of a lenscap.
